Join the Archival Effort
The Inver Glen Scottish Dancers Archive is a non-profit, volunteer-led project dedicated to preserving the technical legacy of Highland dancing. We are constantly seeking individuals who are passionate about Scottish heritage and digital preservation to help us maintain and expand our technical database.
Opportunities for Contribution
Digital Transcription: We have a significant backlog of physical scoring aggregate sheets from the 1970s and 80s that require manual transcription into our digital records. This role requires high attention to detail and a basic understanding of competitive Highland dance metrics.
Multimedia Restoration: If you possess technical skills in photo or film restoration, we need help digitizing 16mm films and aged photographs of regional gatherings. These visual records are essential for documenting the evolution of kilt tailoring and footwear (Ghillies) over the decades.
Technical Review: Experienced instructors and judges are invited to provide technical commentary for our archival entries, helping to explain the "Lost Snaps" and nuances of mid-century rhythm that are no longer common in the modern standard.
